Burtucky Days coming Sept. 20-23

BURTON — The 7th annual Burtucky Days festival takes place Sept. 20-23 at Captain’s Quarters Lounge, located at 6011 E. Atherton Road. This year’s Burtucky Days kicks off Thursday evening with a redneck parade at 5 p.m., which will start on Lapeer Road and head toward Belsay. The festival is set to include live music Thursday through Sunday, with a number of “redneck events” scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The Road Kill Café is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, and the official crowning of the 2018 Burtucky King and Queen also takes place Saturday at Captain’s Quarters. The event charges a one-time $3 arm band charge which is good for all four days. The proceeds from the arm band charge benefit the Old Newsboys of Flint Christmas Box Program.

“The entertaining celebration gives people a chance to have fun while contributing to a worthy cause,” said Old Newsboys Executive Director, Christopher Hamilton.

Proceeds from this event will provide Christmas boxes to children in need throughout our community. The Old Newsboys have put presents under the tree for over 812,000 children across Genesee County. Last year alone, 6,179 children received gifts from the Old Newsboys.

“With the support of the community, we’re making a difference one child at a time,” Hamilton said.
