Bentley falls in softball district final

Photo by Jason Gatica OTISVILLE – The Bentley softball team lost to Brown City 15-0 in the Div. 4 district final Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs had topped Atherton 18-2 in the semifinal. Individual stats for Bentley and Atherton were not reported.

Brown City had taken down LakeVille 7-5 in the other semifinal and Bendle 2-0 in the district opener. Brown City moves on to regionals, which it hosts, and will face New Haven on Saturday. The winner will play either Madison Heights Bishop Foley or Sandusky for the regional title. – K.R./J.O.

Div. 2 at Birch Run

Kearsley opened the postseason in a nine-inning affair in Saturday’s district semifinal at Birch Run in a 7-5 loss to Clio. Birch Run won the other semifinal, 16-0, over Mt. Morris before routing Clio in the district championship game, 12-2. Game details were not reported. – B.P.
