United took a 3-2 lead after the first period, but DeWitt/St. Johns stormed back to take a 5-3 lead heading into the third. United’s 2-1 advantage in the third period fell just short of evening the contest’s score.

Dru Sweers led the way with three goals while Aidan Flick and Colby Polutanovich added the other tallies. MacGregor Hepburn picked up three assists and Alec Copeland and Drew Hobson each recorded one helper.

The United returned from the holiday break last Wednesday and took a narrow 5-4 loss to Lapeer at the Polar Palace. Lapeer’s win was spurred by a 3-1 advantage after one. Each team scored once in the second period and the United’s 2-1 advantage in the third wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.

Flick and Sweers each scored twice while Hobson had a pair of assists. Hepburn and Trevor Keller each had a helper.
