Businesses voice support for state’s prevailing wage law

LANSING — Leaders in Michigan’s construction industry today voiced their support for Michigan’s prevailing wage law and the benefits it provides to Michigan businesses, communities and skilled trades workers.

“Michigan’s construction industry is booming, and it is a major challenge to find high skilled workers for public construction projects across the state,” said Mike Stobak, vice president of Southfield-based Barton Malow. “The prevailing wage stabilizes the labor market, making it possible for publicly funded jobs, like roads and schools, to be built on budget and on time.”

Michigan’s prevailing wage law is a proven tool for attracting, training and retaining highly skilled workers that will be needed to continue the state’s economic comeback. — R.S
