Kearsley swims last at league meet

FENTON – The Fenton girls swim team took home the Flint Metro League meet win for yet another year, taking first with 751.5 points. Owosso was second with 366 and Swartz Creek/ Flushing was third with 230. Ortonville- Brandon was fourth with 227.5, Holly fifth with 194 and Kearsley sixth with 129.

Kearsley’s 200 medley relay team of Amelia Boggs, Claire Ouellette, Maddie Raysin and Lily Brown took fourth in 2:23.15. Brown was 10th in the 50-free, finishing in 28.38. Raysin was seventh in 1-meter diving with 262.85 points and Boggs was 15th with 188.9. In the 100 fly, Raysin took 12th in 1:32.11. In the 100 free, Ouellette took 12th in 1:05.03 and Brown was 13th in 1:06.52.

Boggs, Raysin, Ouellette and Brown finished in 1:59.91 to take fifth in the 200 free relay. In the 100-breast, Lucia Pompurova finished in 1:31.82 to take 14th. Kearsley’s Laura Kendrick, Alexis Echols, Samantha Timm and Hailey Barrinton took fourth in 5:27.21 in the 400 free relay.

Kearsley saw no girls qualify for the state finals, which take place November 17-18, but Raysin did qualify for the diving regionals and a chance to advance to states for diving. Diving regionals take place today at DeWitt.
