KEARSLEY: The Hornets have not raced over the past week. They hit the trails again Saturday for the Kayla O’Mara Invite at Goodrich High School. — J.O.


KEARSLEY: The Lady Hornets fell to Brandon 101-66 on Friday. No individual scores were reported. Kearsley was slated to face Holly on Tuesday, but the meet was postponed.

Kearsley will host Davison and Holly today. – K.R.


ATHERTON: The Lady Wolverines took down their cross-town rivals Bendle 27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-16 last Thursday. Laura Morgan put up two kills, two digs, 17 assists, three aces and was 23-for-25 serving. Rachel Morales added 10 kills, one solo block, six digs, two aces and was 10-for-11 serving and Alexi Morgan had 13 digs.

Rayona Price had two digs, Jesse Newsom had four kills and one dig and KayLynn Chilton one kill. Abby Newsom collected three digs, Ciara Lilly had 12 kills, one solo block and one ace and Taylor Rowan one dig, nine assists and one ace.

“Great game and great atmosphere, “ said Atherton coach Chuck Vierk. “Bendle is a tough team and is well coached so we knew that we had to bring our best to come into someone else’s gym to pull away a victory and the ladies played great today. It was a very nice win to have but we still have some areas where we know we can get better at. The season is officially in the second half and districts are around the corner so being able to pick up momentum down the stretch is extremely important. Proud of my girls tonight and how hard they played.” – B.P.

BENDLE: The Lady Tigers traveled to New Lothrop on Tuesday and lost to Atherton last Thursday, 27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-16. Game details were not reported. Bendle is at the Perry Invitational on Saturday and Byron on Tuesday. – K.R.

BENTLEY: The Bulldogs lost to Genesee Christian 21-25, 11-25, 25-18, 15-25 Tuesday. Morgan Ludwig went 48-for-49 setting with 11 assists, while also hitting 12-for-13 for two kills. Kilee Leonard went 25-for- 28 hitting the ball with four kills and served 15-for- 16 with an ace. Addison LeTourneau went 20-for-22 in hits for the match with six kills and also had perfect night serving, going 9-for-9 with an ace. Taylor Crane set 35-for-37 with three assists, while hitting 6-for-6 with a kill.

Last Thursday, Bentley defeated Beecher 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 25-17. Ludwig went 46-for-47 setting with nine assists, 10-for-11 hitting with two kills and 6-for-7 serving with three aces. Leonard was perfect hitting, going 16-for-16 with four kills. She also went 21-for-22 serving and had two blocks. Addison LeTourneau hit 31-for-36 with 11 kills and 9-for-10 serving with two aces. Crane was 15-for-15 setting with five assists. Makayla LeTourneau served 10-for-11 with an ace.

Bentley hosts Durand tonight at 6:30 p.m. – J.O.

KEARSLEY: The Hornets fell to Swartz Creek 12-25, 15-25, 18-25 Tuesday. Katie Lewis led Kearsley with four kills, three digs and two blocks. Lindsay Flynn finished with two digs and three aces. Desiree Lewis had eight digs, one ace and one kills. Samantha Roberts also contributed two aces, one dig and one kill.

Kearsley, 0-6-1 overall, 0-4 in conference play hosts Carman-Ainsworth tonight at 6:30 p.m. — J.O.
