Blood Drive

BURTON — The American Red Cross urges blood donors to give in the final weeks of summer to help overcome a chronic summer blood shortage. A blood drive is scheduled for August 31 from10 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. at Courtland Center, 4190 E. Court Street. Appointments can be scheduled by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visitingredcrossblood.org or calling 1-800- RED CROSS (1-800- 733-2767). To help reduce wait times, donors are encouraged to make appointments and complete the RapidPass online health history questionnaire at redcrossblood.org/RapidPass. As a special thank you, those who come out to give blood or platelets with the Red Cross now through Aug. 31 will be emailed a $5 Target eGift- Card. Pasty Sale

BURTON — The Burton VFW Post 2777, 2260 S. Belsay Road, is currently selling beef pasties for $5. The price includes one beef gravy. The post is open daily from 12 to 5 p.m. All proceeds generated will assist veterans and their families. For more information please call (810) 743-4138. — T.T.

Burton Senior Activity Center


BURTON — The Burton Senior Activity Center, 3410 S. Grand Traverse, presents dominoes games every Friday at 12:30 p.m. The game is a long-standing favorite, and can be played by newcomers as well as long time players. A friendly group is happy to teach it. — T.T.

Chair Yoga

BURTON — The Burton Senior Activity Center offers Silver Sneakers-Chair Yoga Mondays at 8:30 a.m. Yoga offers greater flexibility, more strength, better muscle tone, improved breathing, improved balance and much more. Silver Sneakers is offered through many insurance companies. For those who do not have this insurance endorsement, the cost for this class is $3 per person. Preregistration is not required. — T.T.
