Community festival

BURTON — Holy Redeemer Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., presents its 2017 community festival June 1 from 5-9 p.m., June 2 from 5-11 p.m., June 3 from 12-11 p.m. and June 4 from 12-9 p.m. Rides and games will be available, along with both a Polish dinner and Tia Helita’s dinner, as well as various snacks. Local artists and craftspeople will be featured in the large pavilion. Admission is free for those 10 and under and over 20. Those ages 11-19 can purchase a mega pass up or a ride bracelet. For-Mar Nature Preserve to conduct frog and toad survey

BURTON — The Michigan frog and toad survey is organized through the Department of Natural Resources and will be available for the public to participate in at For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, 2142 Genesee Rd., May 20 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Participants will learn the calls of the 13 native species and how to monitor and complete the survey. The survey is suitable for all ages and abilities to participate in. Pre-registration is not required and there is no cost to participate. — T.T.

Kids frog, toad and salamander exploration

BURTON — For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum offers a learning opportunity on frogs, toads and salamanders through its knee high naturalist program, for ages 3-6, on May 24 and 25 from 10-11:30 a.m. Participants will walk the pond, gaining knowledge on amphibians and will make a toad house to take home. Arts & crafts and flea market event at City Hall

BURTON — Mayor Paula Zelenko and the city of Burton Park and Recreation Commission present Junk in the Trunk, an arts, crafts, antiques and flea market event, May 27 at Burton City Hall, 4303 S. Center Rd., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration for vendors is $10 per site paid to be paid by May 24. Late and on-site registration will be $20 if space is available. Burton Senior Center Dementia conversations

BURTON — The Burton Senior Activity Center, 3410 S. Grand Traverse offers an opportunity to participate in dementia conversations, free of charge, May 25, starting at 9:30 a.m. The workshop will offer tips on how to have honest and caring conversations about driving, doctor visits, legal and financial planning. — T.T
