Hip to be square, BEE there
FLINT — Whaley Historic House Museum and Flint Handmade have paired together to present an Old- Fashioned Quilting Bee Workshop Series every third Saturday of every other month in 2015, and for interested readers the next opportunity to become a part of the buzz-worthy trend of renewal and much gratification is just around the corner.
On April 18 participants from all walks of life will piece together patchwork creations combining autobiographies of life in stitch, and enjoying the lost art of in-person communication as well.
Laughter is therapy, and so too is artistic expression. It is a win-win endeavor that has blessed many a participant's life.
Supplies are provided, but those attending are encouraged and welcomed to bring their own fabric scraps and sewing kits to the gatherings.
For those who cannot make the April 18 event, others are slated for June 20, Aug. 15, Oct. 17, and Dec. 19.
Stay informed and connected between Quilting Bee sessions by visiting Flint Handmade's Web site, Facebook, and linked crafting program pages with frequently updated photos, news, and event additions.
The program sponsors boast unlimited welcomes, but currently have limited space. They suggest reservations with a call to Whaley House at 810-471-4717.
Other Bee-tific Handmade events are happening during downtown evenings at ArtWalk from the Heart held at The Lunch Studio on Fridays. Visit downtown Saginaw St. this Spring, to join like-minded crafty creatives from 6-9 p.m. On April 10, May 8, and June 12.
