NCG Movies to reopen Courtland Cinemas this Friday

BURTON — NCG Courtland Cinemas will open May 20, returning to the long tradition of there being a theater at the mall.

The announcement comes more than two years after the closing of the National Amusements theater at Courtland Center, 4190 E. Court St. The NCG Courtland Cinemas is located on the southeast end of the Courtland Center mall at Center Road and I-69.

NCG Courtland Cinemas will provide state of the art digital projection with Real D 3D capabilities and digital sound, along with stadium seating in every theater.

Other NCG traditions available at the new location include group rates and free refills on all sizes of soft drinks and popcorn. Tickets are available for most movies every day until 6 p.m. and all day Tuesday.

Courtland Center Cinema began as a two-screen theater, owned by National Amusement. That theater closed in 1991 and was reopened in 1998 as Silver Cinemas. At that time the number of screens was expanded to six — with stadium seating, reclining seats and cupholders.

National Amusement then bought the theater back just months later and changed the name back to Courtland Center Cinema. They closed again in January 2009.

NCG Cinemas is a family owned theater chain that now has 13 locations nationally and is based in Owosso. Details: Visit www.NCGmovies.com. G.G.
