Woman injured after brakes fail on vehicle

BURTON — An 18-year-old Grand Blanc woman managed to walk away from a vehicle after vehicle she was driving ran into a ditch in the 2000 block of East Schumacher Street on Jan. 25 at 2:45 p.m. Police found the vehicle in a ditch off the ground upon arrival, but did not see a driver. They found the woman walking east on Schumacher, towards Barnes Avenue. The driver said she was driving east on Schumacher when the vehicle’s brakes went out on her friend’s vehicle. She added the vehicle hit a portable basketball hoop, and she directed the car into the ditch so it would stop. An SOS search revealed the woman has never had a driver’s license, while LEIN showed her with two misdemeanor warrants for domestic assault in Burton and one felony warrant for resisting and obstructing police from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department. The owner of the vehicle was notified of the accident, while the woman was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and lodged on the outstanding warrants.
