Alcohol and counterfeit bills found during retail fraud BURTON — Three counterfeit bills and two bottles of tequila were confiscated by police during a retail fraud complaint at Meijer, 2333 S. Center Rd., on Jan. 25 at 11:05 p.m. A loss prevention employee told police they noticed a 22-year-old Flint man and 18-year-old Swartz Creek woman enter the store with a large group. The man selected two bottles on liquor and place them in the girl’s purse, which he handed back to the woman. The pair was taken into custody after trying to leave the store without paying for the items. Police found three $20 bills in the man’s possession they believe to be counterfeit. The man said he was given the bills by another person, but he could not provide a name. Both of the suspects admitted to coming into the store with the intent of stealing the alcohol. The man and woman were cited for retail fraud and released. |
