Burton libraries closing additional day per week due to funding cuts

      BURTON — Funding cuts totaling nearly 60 percent in the last two weeks has forced Burton’s two public libraries to eliminate a day of service. Baker Park Library, located at G-3410 S. Grand Traverse St., will now be closed on Wednesdays, formerly operating from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on the weekday.

Staff at South Bendle Elementary donating own money for scholarships

      BURTON — Two Bendle Public Schools students will receive $500 scholarships upon graduation this year on behalf of the South Bendle Elementary Scholarship Fund. The two students to receive the scholarships on senior graduation night will have attended South Bendle during their elementary school days.

MCC awards scholarships to Hispanic students
      FLINT — Mott Community College MCC) was recently awarded a $40,000 grant to operate the TGFlint College Connection Project.. Two students were awarded scholarships to attend Mott Community College for the fall semester: Crystal Garcia, who was awarded a $1,000 scholarship, and Robert Duvall, a $500 scholarship.
