Wolverines take out Lady Bulldogs

— In a Genesee Area Conference-Blue contest Monday, Atherton needed just three sets to unseat Bentley, 25-14, 25-15, 25-15. Retha Horton was the leader with nine kills and two aces, Leah Perry had seven aces, Raylynn Dark added six kills and two aces and K.C. Hill had 24 assists. In Atherton’s 25-18, 25- 11, 25-21 win against Flint Hamady Monday, Katie Walls lead with eight kills and three aces and Dark had five kills and 11 aces, while Brianna Wood had five kills.Last weekend at the Oxford tournament, Atherton went 1-5-1 on the day, losing to New Lothrop and Mt. Morris. Horton had 16 kills.
BENDLE
Goodrich proved to be too much for the Lady Tigers, even after going head-to-head with New Lothrop in five games, 25-12, 20-25, 25-20, 17-25, 18-16, eventually pulling out the win against Bendle, 25-8, 25-8, 25-12.
Bendle now takes on New Lothrop, Flint Beecher and LakeVille at LakeVille today in a quadrangle.
FAITH
A flu outbreak at St. Thomas More cancelled the Lady Lions’ meeting with St. Thomas Tuesday, but the squad remains undefeated at 11-0 overall, 7-0 conference, after taking out the Valley School last Thursday, 25-14, 25-10, 25-23.
Amanda Sutton had five digs and seven digs, Alexis Buckallew added four aces, one dig and three kills and Sara Sienkewicz chipped in with 14 assists and two kills at setter.
The squad had a practice with Faith Baptist, then took on Faith Home School in nonconference scrimmages, and now wait to take on Saginaw Arts and Sciences Thursday, then the reschedule clash with St. Thomas More Friday at St. Thomas More.
