Bendle falls to New Lothrop; needs win to qualify for playoffs
      BURTON — Knowing the task would be great, the Bendle Tigers entered last Friday’s game against New Lothrop undaunted, needing a win to secure their place in the MHSAA playoffs, or face the pressure of a mustwin this week if the Tigers are going to continue their season.

Wolverines take out Lady Bulldogs
      BURTON — In a Genesee Area Conference-Blue contest Monday, Atherton needed just three sets to unseat Bentley, 25-14, 25-15, 25-15. Retha Horton was the leader with nine kills and two aces, Leah Perry had seven aces, Raylynn Dark added six kills and two aces and K.C. Hill had 24 assists.

      GENESEE — Registration for the flag football leagues at the Genesee Fieldhouse has now begun. The youth flag football league is scheduled to start on Oct. 28. Generals open season with split
      FLINT — With new coach John Muzzatti behind the bench and new IHL Commissioner Denis Hextall in the house, the Flint Generals took a big step toward erasing memories of last year’s dismal 22-47-2-5 season. Before a crowd of 1,715 chilly fans at Perani Arena, they notched a 3-l opening night win last Friday over the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

      BURTON — In Tuesday’s district semifinal match hosted by Genesee Christian, Genesee Christian needed extra time to advance to the finals. Cody Klein scored on a free kick 3:30 into overtime to give the Soldiers the victory over Kimball New Life Christian.
